Job Summary: The Assistant Teacher will be responsible for supporting the Lead Teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment for children in a child care center. The candidate must have experience working with young children and the ability to work as part of a team.
Responsibilities:
Assist the Lead Teacher in implementing daily lesson plans that are developmentally appropriate for children
Provide a safe and secure environment for children by supervising and monitoring all activities
Assist in facilitating children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development
Support the Lead Teacher in conducting regular assessments to track children’s progress and development
Communicate with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and needs
Help to maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
Attend staff meetings, professional development trainings, and other events as required
Adhere to all health and safety regulations and protocols
Requirements:
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent
Completion of an early childhood education or related program is preferred
At least 1 year of experience working with young children in a childcare setting
Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate practices
Ability to work as a part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands:
Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Must be able to sit on the floor, stand for extended periods of time, and kneel or crouch at child’s level

Provide a safe and secure environment for children by supervising and monitoring all activities
Encourage and facilitate children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development

Communicate with parents and guardians about their child’s progress and needs
Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
